View from Nick's Cabin
Such a sweet little end of the marsh. This painting will be for sale at the Croton Artisans Holiday Show this weekend!

Little Red Boat
Little
Red Boat, 2018 version. Several people asked about the little red boat
paintings last year, but they got snatched up! Here’s my most recent one.
Thanks, Mark, for owning the prettiest boats on the river and docking them here
in Croton. This painting will be for sale at the Croton Artisans Holiday Show
at the municipal building this weekend.

Marsh Study No. 2
Same view, different orientation, a little more detail. Off to the right, just out of the frame, is the site of the ongoing War With Beavers. (They want to plug up the culvert; we don't want them to--very complicated. I admit to a disloyal fondness for the opposing team.)
I can't stand the thought that if Michigan Potash gets its way, an enormous potash-mining operation may loom on the horizon of this pristine spot.

Marsh Study No. 1
This month I’ve been
sort of fixated on this view of my beloved marsh. And I experimented a little.
This first, quick little study is my dad’s birthday card. The experimental part
is that, unlike my other landscapes, it’s acrylic. Hmm.

Swamp, Mecosta County
My family and I found
a little dirt road we had never before explored, and lo and behold, it had a
fantastic view of this gorgeous hidden swamp. So I went back on a hot summer
day, parked myself at the edge of someone’s field, and had a lovely day of
painting. This landscape will be at the Croton Artisans’ Holiday Show this
weekend, where I’ll also be painting half-hour portraits. Come by to say hello,
see some beautiful arts and crafts, and if your timing is right, snag some of
Yoshimi’s amazing sushi.
