This is a larger one for me, from a couple photos I took last fall. The highest cliff in the distance is called Gertrude’s Nose. (I wonder who Gertrude was and what she looked like.) At any rate, I just love this stretch of road. There’s a sunflower field along here that I am determined to go back and paint this summer.

Here’s another large one. This is some out-of-the-way farmland just south of the Finger Lakes region, on a cold, bitter day, when the last of the snow was not in any mood to melt. Unless it sells in the next few days, this painting will be hanging in my show at the Flat Iron Gallery in Peekskill for the month of March. (Reception is Sunday; come on by!)

I’m happy to be painting a landscape again! This is from the Day of the Twisted Ankle this fall. As we were limping back down the mountain, this spot struck me as especially beautiful. So I took time out from whining to take some pictures. I’m glad I did.

I just love painting farmland. And farmland with mountains behind it? You betcha, as my Aunt Wendy likes to say. I think I almost like the views along this stretch of road better than the spectacular ones up in the park.
