This one is from a photo I took a
week or two ago, when the trees were flowering like mad. Now it’s mostly green,
though there is still a bit of nice variation in the greens. I painted it on
canvas, which I like for its texture, but I definitely do not like the give of
canvas under my brush; I much prefer a nice, hard board.

Morning on Cleveland Drive No. 2

Spring is happening too quickly!
This painting is only a couple of days old, and already the trees are speeding
toward a more uniform green. I treasure this small window of time, when there
are so many colors and so much variety in the landscape.

Ketti's Hill
My friend Ketti lives at the top
of this hill. Her little street is tucked right into the middle of our village,
yet it feels like a country road. The flowering trees around here are just
going wild right now, and I am feeling a bit of pressure to capture every
single one before they leaf out.
I'll be hanging this painting, along with several others, at the Green Growler in Croton today. Artist's reception will be on May 18; details to come!
