I painted this baby from a photo, never having met her. Later, I spotted her in her mother's arms at an event. My first thought was, "I know that face...but how?"

And the baby brother! This was my first baby painting from life, rather than a photo. He was such a good-natured boy, which is why it worked. He sat in his high chair, with his sippy cup, and I painted in between sips, while his mom played finger puppets behind my head.
